Winnipeg filmmakers win at imagineNATIVE!

Oct 27, 2014

We are happy to announce that WFG members Janelle and Jérémie Wookey won the BEST SHORT DOCUMENTARY award at the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival for their new film Treading Water.

After artificial flooding destroys their communities, political gridlock and lack of public support puts the lives of 2000 First Nation men, women and children on hold, forcing them to spend three years waiting for answers in hotel rooms and inner-city housing.

“Treading Water” is a deeply intimate look at the unexpected, untold story of the real-life evacuees behind the national headlines of the 2011 Manitoba flood.

The Treading Water DVD now available from Winnipeg Film Group shop!
