The publication National Gathering of Latin Canadian Filmmakers: A Memoir is memory document of the first National Gathering of Latin Canadian Filmmakers, held 13-15 May 2023 in Tiohtià:ke / Mooniyaang / Montréal. This event was organized by Cecilia Araneda, with the support of GIV: Groupe Intervention Vidéo and IMAA: Independent Media Arts Alliance. It brought together over 40 Latin Canadian filmmakers, programmers, curators and scholars from across the country to get to know each other, to discuss Latin Canadian cinema history and to start the process of defining pathways forward as a community.

The book provides reflections on the event with essays by Cecilia Araneda (Winnipeg), soJin Chun (Toronto), felippe (Quebec City), Darien S. Nicolás (Montreal), Milena Salazar (Vancouver) and Zaira Zarza (Montreal), and includes French translations. This publication has been developed as a community resource to spark ideas about what Latin Canadian cinema is today and what it can be in the future.
