The WFG is ecstatic and proud to announce that Winnipeg filmmaker Matthew Rankin and his short film The Tesla World Light, produced at the National Film Board of Canada by Julie Roy, will have its world premiere at the 56th International Critics’ Week, a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival organised by the French Syndicate of Film Critics.

Rankin’s stop-motion film will be one of 10 short films competing at the prestigious international event, which takes place from 18 to 26 May, 2017.

Born in Winnipeg Rankin created numerous short films in the Winnipeg Film Group community and as part of the Atelier national du Manitoba. Rankin moved to Montreal several years ago to advance his filmmaking career. The Winnipeg Film Group wishes Rankin all the success in the world!
