WFG SPRING 2024 MFM POST/PRODUCTION FUND RECIPIENTS
We are excited to announce the following recipients as part of the first 2024 cycle of the MFM Post/Production Fund:
Joyce Delaronde was awarded $2,000 in cash for “One Sidedness”.
Joyce is a Métis actor/filmmaker, all the way from Duck Bay, Manitoba. Also known as Skinny Kookoo, she creates sketch comedy as well as performs stand up comedy.
She is a collaborative artist, working on many projects as an Actor, Production Coordinator/Manager, Creator/Writer for many Indigenous Collective Projects.
She wrote, directed, produced and starred in the Skinny Kookoo Comedy Sketch Show. This film screened at WAFF where she was nominated for best new talent and TOSketchfest where her film was nominated for ‘Best of the Fest’. It also aired on Shaw and a shorter version was screened at the Gimli Film Festival.
She participated in the Reelworld E20 program, the Whistler Indigenous Filmmaker Fellowship as well as the Digital Constellations Program at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
Darcy Fehr was awarded $2,000 in cash for “Dinner Date”.
Darcy Fehr is a Winnipeg-based actor, director, producer and acting instructor who made his onscreen acting debut in Guy Maddin’s The Cock Crew (1997). He has performed in over 100 productions in film, television and live theatre since. Recent television and film credits include, Ordinary Angels (2024), Miracle in Bethlehem, PA (2023) and Spencer Sisters (2023). In 2014 and 2016, Fehr won the ACTRA MB award for best actor in a leading role in Euphoria (2013) and Black Rainbow (2015). Over the span of his career, he has worked numerous times with renowned Canadian filmmaker Guy Maddin, most notably in the critically acclaimed, My Winnipeg (2007).
Darcy opened the doors of The Acting Studio Winnipeg in 2008 as a supportive and safe place for actors and filmmakers to work on their craft. He has been a proud member of Winnipeg’s creative community since 1997 and continues to be an active participant as an artist, creator and community builder.
Miriam Temesghen was awarded $2,000 in cash “*Friendzone”.
Miriam Temesghen is a filmmaker born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Miriam has worked 6 years in the film industry spanning from working as Assistant Production Coordinator, Director’s Assistant, Producer’s Assistant and Set Production Assistant. She is now trying to break out into the Director role with working on multiple short films that either showcase the black experience or the diversity in friendships!

Several submissions were received for this cycle of the award, and were juried by a peer assessment committee comprised of filmmaker Justina Neepin and visual artist and art educator Derek Brueckner.
