WFG shorts to air Saturday night on CBC Manitoba

Tune in to CBC Manitoba at 7pm on Saturday, July 19 to see the broadcast premiere of six short films from our Distribution Catalogue! CBC Manitoba’s Short Shots features films by Dave Barber, Danielle Sturk, Madison Thomas, Marlon Wiebe, and the filmmaking team of Ian Bawa, Markus Henkel, Milos Mitrovic & Fabian Velasco.

Short Shots is a 1-hour program that exclusively features made in Manitoba short films. Hosted by Mike Bell, it is produced in partnership with Inferno Pictures. This is the fourth year CBC has presented this program.

The lineup includes:

SPECTRE
Directed by Ian Bawa, Markus Henkel, Milos Mitrovic, Fabian Velasco
A lonely ghost puts on a garage sale in hopes of finding company.

ROBOT ADVENTURES IN OUTER SPACE
Directed by Marlon Wiebe
Tin-can robot LIF-TOR searches for his lost friend Space Robot in the far reaches of deep space in this animated sci-fi comedy.

CURTIS L. WIEBE, FILMMAKER  
Directed by Marlon Wiebe
This is a charming portrait of Winnipeg filmmaker Curtis Wiebe who creates puppets and props for all of his films.

TREATY NUMBER THREE 
Directed by Danielle Sturk
A portrait of visual artist Rebecca Belmore.

On a sunny summer day, a swimming coach drills her pupil on breathing tips to become an Olympic hopeful. Starring 90 year old Winnipeg actress and swimming teacher extraordinaire, Doreen Brownstone.
