The Winnipeg Film Group is thrilled that our member Indigenous filmmakers have recently received national and international attention, by Vice Canada and the Sundance Festival.
Vice Canada highlighted the first anniversary of the WFG’s Aboriginal Filmmaker Collective, and in particular women Indigenous filmmaker, in its article, “Is Winnipeg at the Forefront of Canada’s Aboriginal Film Scene?“ by Whitney Light (Nov 30, 2015).
WFG member filmmakers featured in this article include Sonya Ballantyne, Justina and Jenna Neepin, Madison Thomas, Jody-Leigh Pacey, and Roger Boyer.
Additionally, the prestigious Sundance Festival has just announced that Caroline Monnet‘s newest film, Mobilize, has been selected as one of the 13 films included in its International Narrative Shorts Films program.
Caroline Monnet is an alumna of the WFG’s Mosaic Film Project program, through which she made her first film, IKWÉ.
