
POSITION: Causal Projectionist (IATSE Local 63)
This is a Union position
DEPARTMENT: Dave Barber Cinematheque
SUPERVISOR: Reports to the Box Office Manager; works closely with the Head Projectionist on technical operations
HOURS: 0 – 10 hrs a week
START DATE: As soon as possible
WAGE: $19.43/hour (per Schedule A of the WFG-IATSE Local 63 Collective Agreement)

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Dave Barber Cinematheque Casual Projectionist is the most important person in ensuring a film or video presentation goes as smoothly as possible. The Casual Projectionist is expected to carefully double-check all of the technical elements in presenting the film, to keep a cool head in times of mechanical problems, and to carry out the job as professionally as possible. This individual will be a good team member who is detail oriented and able to problem-solve under pressure.
The main objectives for the Casual Projectionist are as follows:
- Test content prior to screening and troubleshoot any issues that arise
- Operate projection and sound equipment
- Oversee the technical requirements of screenings, introductions, Q&As, and special events when on duty, as instructed by the Head Projectionist
- Assist and support box office staff
- Ensure a clean and safe space for both employees and patrons alike
- General cleaning duties
- Theatre rental set-up including setting up and tearing down of table, chairs and other materials
- Other Casual Projectionist duties as assigned by the Box Office Manager
- Compliance with all WFG Human Resources Policies, as amended from time-to-time. It is agreed that if WFG Human Resources Policies are in conflict with the Collective Agreement, the terms of the Collective Agreement shall prevail.

- Knowledgeable of Cinematheque products and services
- Passion for film and other forms of artistry
- Responsible and able to commit to a flexible schedule
- Must obtain Smart Choices Certification prior to first scheduled shift (per LGCA policy and WFG’s Alcohol Policy)
