Congratulations to MC de Natividad, the winner of the FascinAsian Film Festival 2024 Erin Hembrador Emerging Filmmaker Award!
The Erin Hembrador Emerging Filmmaker Award is a tribute to friend and colleague Erin Hembrador, who passed away in 2022. At the time of her passing, she was a filmmaker-on-the-rise, having made multiple award-winning short films and was preparing to make her first feature film.
The award is generously sponsored by The Hembrador Family, an in-kind gear rental of the basic lighting and grip package van from William F White International (now Sunbelt Rentals), and mentorship by esteemed filmmaker Quan Luong for their next film.
Bumalik (To go back) by MC de Natividad screened at FascinAsian Film Festival 2024 on Saturday, May 25th.
Bumalik (To go back) is the debut film from Winnipeg-based emerging director and producer MC de Natividad. The film follows de Natividad, who immigrated to Winnipeg from the Philippines at four-years-old, on her journey to reclaim her lost language and identity.
The short documentary film is in the WFG Distribution Catalogue.
