My cousin is flying back home on Thursday, and he told me he will sell me his 2016 QX50 for a good price before he leaves. That sounds great, but it also puts me under pressure, because I only have one free day to decide. I have never bought a used luxury car before, and my last two cars were small and cheap, so I never worried much. This time the money is bigger, and I keep thinking what if something is hiding under the paint. He says it is perfect, no accidents, always serviced on time. I trust him as family, but my wife said even family can forget things, and a stranger will not be so honest. I took it for a short drive yesterday and everything felt normal to me, but I also know I am not a mechanic and I can easily miss things. The AC was cold, the screen worked, and the engine sounded quiet. One thing I noticed is a faint smell inside after the engine runs for a while, but he said it is just the cleaning spray. I am not sure. I started reading about what a proper check includes, and I found a page from a workshop in Mussafah that talked about pre purchase inspections. It explained things like scanning the computer for hidden codes, checking for old accident repairs, looking at the fluids and the tires, and testing the brakes and suspension. It was written in simple words, so I understood the idea, but I still do not know how it works in real life. Since the seller leaves soon, I searched for Same-day inspection before buying an Infiniti in Musaffah Shabiya, because waiting a week is not possible for me. So now I have some questions for people who did this before. How long does a full inspection take, and can it really be done in a few hours without rushing? Do you take the car there yourself, or does the seller have to come along? Will they give a written report so I can use it to ask for a lower price? Also, how much does it usually cost, and is it worth paying for if the car looks clean? Someone told me that a scan can show if the mileage was changed, is that true? And if the report shows small problems, how do you decide between walking away and asking for a discount? One more thing, does the inspection check the gearbox and the engine properly, or only the outside things? Please tell me what you wish you had checked before buying. Thanks everyone, I will read your replies tonight.
