The Winnipeg Film Group invites Estelle Chaigne to work on her ongoing project temporarily titled Naï. With three overhead projectors, she presents the process of developing silver prints on glass slides; making images appear and disappear with chemical treatment. Chaigne uses images from her personal archive, anonymous images, and stills from films, to create a dreamlike narrative. Started in 2021, she will continue this work in Winnipeg, by imagining a bridge between the photospirits of Winnipeg and the story of the last witch of Brittany, France, named Naïa. This bridge connects photography, magic, and the occult, through the subject of the apparition.
