Camp, Trash, Filth: John Waters Visits Regina!

Jun 15, 2017

Our friends at Queer City Cinema in Regina are hosting an 8-day-long festival inspired by the films of John Waters. The program includes films by Waters as well as other screenings, talks, and live performances with a live talk by John Waters scheduled for June 24th, entitled “This Filthy World.”

The festival runs from June 14 to 23rd and will include two films from the WFG Distribution catalogue. On June 18, Karen Asmundson and Gwen Trutnau’s gender-bending short film Polar Express will screen as a matinee with Waters’s Cecil B. Demented at the Regina Public Library Film Theatre. Guy Maddin’s The Little White Cloud That Cried, a tribute to underground filmmaker Jack Smith, will open for Bruce LaBruce’s No Skin Off My Ass at 9pm on June 22 at Artesian on 13th.

Winnipeggers Shawna Dempsey and Lorri Millan will be performing “Big Wig” as part of the festival on June 22nd before Maddin’s screening.

The full program can be viewed here.
