Shane Belcourt’s short film will air Sunday night, June 4 at 12:30am on CBC’s main network.

A Common Experience is a poetic exploration of the multi-generational affects of Canada’s Indian Residential School system. It is based on the personal trials of Aboriginal playwright Yvette Nolan.

Canadian Reflections is Canada’s longest running showcase of independent short film. For over thirty years, we have given Canada’s best and brightest filmmakers a national audience, currently broadcasting into homes across the country Sundays at midnight. Over the course of its history, REFLECTIONS has acquired films from now top filmmakers such as Atom Egoyan and David Cronenberg, as well as various Oscar nominees and winners.

The Winnipeg Film Group has had numerous short films featured on Canadian Reflections. Shane Belcourt’s A Common Experience is our most recent.
