Halfway between documentary and the ethereal, The Thread of Time is a trance-like experience of the traditional weaving of women in Costa do Sauípe, Brazil. Immersed in the choreography of weaving gestures—harvesting, shredding, dyeing, weaving, and sewing—the film is a throbbing portrait of female independence and empowerment; a resilience expressed through rhythm, repetition, and memory.

A filmmaker who has, by chance, become a family archivist decides to embark on an emotional journey to discover who his grandparents really were.
His quest leads him to draw direct links between their story and that of Quebec, to question the ethics of architecture, and to reflect on the concept of home as being intimately linked to the imagination.
