The Super 8 Special: Film Incubator
CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS!
The Super 8 Special: Film Incubator is BACK again this year, brought to you by the creative team at Celluloid Church! This hands-on analogue filmmaking incubator is open to Manitoba residents aged 18+, who identify as someone from an Equity-Deserving Community: BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, women and gender-diverse individuals, disabled persons, and members of French-language communities.
Shoot your Super 8 film, learn to process your black & white film in the darkroom, and edit using analogue techniques in this hands-on workshop series! You will get 16 hours of workshop time guided by a skilled instructor, with a final screening at the Dave Barber Cinematheque!
Each participant will get a cartridge of Super 8 film (Kodak Tri-X 7266), a 3-day Super 8 camera rental, and a 2K digital scan of their film.
Applications are now open and accepted until Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 11:59pm CDT.
Spots are limited to 16 participants. There is no cost to apply and participate in the program, thanks to the generous funding from the Manitoba Arts Council. We’d also like to thank our community sponsors Winnipeg Film Group and Platform Centre.
