Tickets on Sale for WAG Rooftop Screening

Jun 23, 2017

Mark your calendars! This August 24, the Winnipeg Art Gallery will be hosting a rooftop screening of John Paizs’s celebrated trilogy, The Three Worlds of Nick.

Recently released by the Winnipeg Film Group on DVD, The Three Worlds of Nick includes Paizs’s 1981 masterpiece, Springtime in Greenland; Oak, Ivy and Other Dead Elms, a clever (and still relevant) political commentary from 1982; and 1984’s spy thriller, The International Style.

John Paizs’ films are a heady mélange of pop culture influences – from comics to horror, noir and spy films – stuffed into the mould of 1950s commercials or educational films. The affectionate homage Paizs pays to American popular culture always comes with a subversive wink. The effect is jarring, hilarious, and feels completely contemporary. (Katarina Gligorijevic)

Tickets are currently available for $15 on wag.ca.
