Cease & Desist

By Ryan Steel | 00:03:10 | Documentary, Experimental | 17/06/2018

Under the shadow of the billboards of Winnipeg's ubiquitous miscreant, a freelance graphic designer encounters a rare type of cricket.

Konstruktion Aria

By James Pomeroy | 00:03:15 | Animation, Experimental | 15/12/2017

Konstruktion Aria is both a work of visual music and an examination of visual "reading". Shot frame by frame on Super 8 film in one unedited take, it uses pixilation of surfaces and "musical" variations to achieve movement and rhythm out of stasis.

self-talk with nothingness

By | 00:04:15 | Experimental | 12/12/17

self-talk with nothingness is a hand-processed Super8 film trying to depict a dialogue with yourself. The materiality of the medium can be seen as an immaterial and oppressive entity, representing your darkest self, nothingness itself.

HOT-HOT-HOTT

By Alex Ateah | 00:02:44 | Comedy, Experimental | 1/01/18

Inspired by 90s sex hotline commercials, a late 20-something seductress yearns for that special someone. The only thing keeping her company is the sand beneath her toes and the pounding desire in her loins. Will she find that special someone she's looking for?

Love Los Angeles

By Kent Tate | 00:03:34 | Animation, Documentary, Experimental | 4/10/17

Being natural born pattern seekers, we are forever looking for this clue or that clue to help explain what otherwise might appear to be unfathomable. Fundamentally, this represents a type of diary without dates, of memories reconstructed that are both actualized and imagined to formulate my story.

Nosisim

By Sonya Ballantyne | 00:10:31 | Documentary | 31/05/2017

In Nosisim, Sonya Ballantyne learns of her grandmother's traumatic past through a drawing titled 'Virginia and Gladys' by famed Indigenous artist Daphne Odjig. This masterful rendition of Sonya's grandmother and mother, Virginia and Gladys George, was done shortly after they were forced from their home due to a manmade hydroelectric dam.

ALEATORIA

By Christopher Spencer-Lowe | 00:05:05 | Experimental, Narrative-Fiction | 9/01/17

Disorder incarnate, the lady of the wheel. Turning and cranking, spinning and churning the stuff of chaos. Randomness, chance, and the unpredictability of being are at her command. Created by random processes, including randomized images and decision making, found footage inspired from social networks and cameras spun on constructed wheel mounts in random locations.

PS Kensington

By Dan Browne | 00:02:35 | Documentary, Experimental | 17/08/2005

One of my first experiments with time-lapse, a roll of Super 8 shot during a Pedestrian Sunday in Kensington Market. I moved into 258 Augusta Ave. in 2002, and the next year my neighbours at La Palette started the PS Kensington initiative, which has continued ever since. My house had a patio door that opened…

and the moon rose in our eyes

By Eric Plamondon | 00:03:24 | Experimental, Narrative-Fiction | 31/08/2016

The first date, the second, the third. Each nervous, each escalating, each creating expectations, each establishing a connection. Intimacy woven in each encounter. At one point, you can tell, the moon rose in their eyes.

TWO

By Christopher Spencer-Lowe | 00:12:30 | Documentary, Experimental | 15/09/2016

TWO is a cinematic rendering of memory, shot entirely on Super 8 film. Co-created by its subject Harley from age two to four, TWO is a document of the filmmakers' 2 years at home together and an exploration of the line between ‘art’ and ‘home’ movies, documentation and expression, contrivance and authenticity.
