A follow up to Never Sorry, documenting the life and work of Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei, The Fake Case showcases his 81 day kidnapping by the Chinese authorities and his gigantic lawsuit from the government, which he soon names ‘The Fake Case’ in reference to the obvious false reasons behind the accusations. The film follows the 18 cameras that are monitoring his studio and home, the police agents that follow his every move and the heavy restrictions from the authorities that weigh him down. He is shaken, but he steadily finds new ways to provoke and challenge the mighty powers in his fight for human rights. Ai Weiwei strongly believes that China is ready for change. And he will do everything to make it happen.
