2016, Canada, 88 min

The Chabot Garden (Les Quatre Vents) in Charlevoix, Quebec is world famous as one of the largest private gardens in the world. This lush, magnificent 20 acre property was maintained by owner, horticulturist and philanthrophist Frank Cabot until his passing in 2011 at the age of 86. Cabot lovingly built the estate, originally purchased from his great grandfather in 1902, into what is now regarded as one of the most beautiful private gardens in the world. The Gardener offers an intimate tour of Cabot’s lush and expansive English-style garden and estate. Beautiful cinematography invites one to stroll Cabot’s gardens and explore the different worlds crafted out of trees and hedges. The film celebrates the extraordinary scope of his vision. The Gardener is a documentary reflecting on the meaning of gardening and its impact on our lives.

Reviews

A breathtaking array of plants. The Gardener will transport you into a world of natural majesty and beauty that Cabot envisioned. He says every gardener is rebuilding the Garden of Eden. Montréal filmmaker Sébastien Chabot’s gorgeous debut is unforgettable. Christine Bentley & Kate Wheeler, whatshesaidradio.com
