A Family of Strangers
Directed by Oscar Fenoglio, 2015, Canada, 43 min
The Mulvey Flea Market is more than just a market, it’s a place that isn’t restrained by the barriers of time. It’s a home for items and memories lost through generations as well as new ones waiting to be remembered, but more than that it’s home to a family of strangers who are dedicated to preserving what makes us who we are.

My Jewish Death
Directed by Saul Henteleff, 2015, Canada, 30 min
At the funeral of Sheldon Oberman, the presiding rabbi told family and friends that Sheldon’s spirit was with us in the sanctuary. This was the first time I had heard there was a Jewish spirit or that there was a Jewish after-life. Growing up I was told that once a Jew dies, that’s it – there was nothing afterwards. The rabbi’s comments were the beginning of a very personal journey that took me into the beliefs about Jewish death, Jewish after-life and the ritual of Taharah.
