SCREENWRITING MECHANICS WITH MELVA MCLEAN (POSTPONED)

Are you interested in screenwriting? Do you want to learn the mechanics of writing a screenplay? This two day workshop will focus on helping you take the next step and learn all of the basics of screenwriting!

Develop your screenwriting craft through the exploration of story structure and character development.

Upon completion of this 2-day workshop, students will understand film story structure, character, conflict, and dialogue in feature screenplays and shorts. The workshop will also touch on proper formatting, and how to pitch your story idea to a producer.

About the Instructor:

Melva McLean has a B.A. and a Masters in Publishing. She is an award-winning book editor and screenwriter. One of her short scripts won a NSI Drama Prize. She has studied with Ty Haller, Pilar Alessandra, and the late Blake Snyder as well as with others through the The Winnipeg Film Group and Film Training Manitoba. Mel is a student of reader- and audience-response theory and has recently directed for the first time.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.
