Safe at Home: Heater

Free to view: March 15 - April 2
Directed by Terrance Odette
1999, Canada, 85 min
New Restoration

Free rental includes a Q&A with director Terrance Odette and actor Gary Farmer, moderated by Dave Barber.

Ben and The Man are homeless during an icy Canadian winter. Their only hope for salvation is an unopened space heater — still in its box — that they share. The problem is they don’t have anywhere to plug it into. They decide to trek to a shopping mall to redeem their sole possession for cash. It’s a negligible sum, but the idea motivates them. What follows is a day long journey in which they meet a plethora of quirky characters while creating an unlikely bond.

This free program is presented with the support of the Province of Manitoba’s Safe at Home program. Visit safeathomemb.ca for a list of other programs available for free.
