A remarkable collection of new and recent animated work by independent Winnipeg animators. Featuring fresh work from many artists including Alison Davis’s beautiful work of watercolor animation COURTSHIP, created for the Cinematheque’s Silverscope 25th anniversary commission, Alain Delannoy’s epic 35mm film MONUMENT about the adventure of a young boy propelled on a journey which destroys his life, reflecting five thousand hand crafted drawings produced over 5 years,Julian Growcott’s THE CONTROLS – sci fi stop motion puppet animation inspired by the British TV show DR WHO. Also featuring incredible emerging artists in Al Poruchnyk’s video art class in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Animation – Chris Simonite’s MEN: THEY’RE RE ALL THE SAME – A humourous animated exploration of male identity with cut out style animation owing a strong debt to Monty Python’s Terry Gilliam, Emily Baxter’s stop motion animated JUDDER, Bart Rucinski’s eerie ghost – like ALONE IN DEATH, the unearthly worlds of Gerick Schroeder, Curtis Wiebe’s impossibly funny I DREAM THE TASTE OF SKY, Leslie Supnet’s animated remake of HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT and more.

our location

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.

The Winnipeg Film Group is located on Treaty 1 Territory and on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene Peoples and in the homeland of the Métis Nation. We offer our respect and gratitude to the traditional caretakers of this land.
