Mia is the story of Alain, a private detective formerly from Manitoba, who is called upon to investigate a missing young girl for a local Winnipeg crime gang. After having been forced to leave Manitoba, Alain has spent the last ten years in Montreal, miserable and alone, haunted by his past. The call for the investigation falls well to help Alain escape his debt trouble and evade the people looking for him. Despite his apprehension to return to his hometown, he accepts the case.Upon arriving in Winnipeg, Alain is reunited with his former love Jeanne, who he left behind, only to discover that she is Mia’s mother, the missing young girl.Alain is now torn between helping the criminals and accepting their money, or helping the love of his life and her daughter escape a terrible fate.
