Gimme Some Truth: Mastering the Festival Launch with Sean Farnel

Sun, Nov 10 / 12 pm
Black Lodge Studio (Room 304, Artspace)
Free Admission

For most independent filmmakers, film festivals are a primary goal for premiering their productions and further developing their careers. Yet, with some 5000 film festivals worldwide, pragmatic and informed decisions must be made. Sean Farnel, who founded the documentary programme at TIFF and later was named Hot Docs’ first Director of Programming, will present an overview of film festival distribution strategies and the Documentary Organization of Canada’s Festival Concierge service. Farnel will then be joined by Winnipeg filmmakers Danielle Sturk and Dave Barber for a group discussion around festival experiences from a filmmaker’s point-of-view.
