Gimme Some Truth: Festival Strategy – From Development to Distribution

Sat, Nov 5 / 1 pm

In Partnership with the 2016 Gimme Some Truth Documentary Film Festival, On Screen Manitoba will host Hot Docs Industry Programmer Heidi Tao Yang for a three-hour workshop on discovering opportunities at Hot Docs and how to market and distribute your documentary film.

Heidi will work with participants to reveal the key opportunities for each level of filmmaking. The workshop will focus on how festivals can play an important role in the life cycle of a documentary film, from development through distribution.

The workshop will take place Saturday, November 5 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, at Cinematheque (100 Arthur Street). This workshop is $25, or free for Gimme Some Truth festival pass holders.

For more information and to register, please contact Maryam Decter, at Maryam@onscreenmanitoba.com.

Participants with a documentary project in rough-cut stage or later are asked to share it with Heidi prior to the workshop for demonstration purposes. You will be asked to send a trailer, a one pager that includes the logline, synopsis, and any pertinent info. Please send this in no later than Monday October 31. Not all projects may be used in the workshop.

Presented in partnership with On Screen Manitoba and Hot Docs Talks.
