Gimme Some Truth: Bell Media Best of Hot Docs: Lo and Behold, Reveries of the Connected World

Sun, Nov 6 / 7 pm
Directed by Werner Herzog
2016, USA, 98 min

A panel will follow screening: The Internet: The Devil’s Resting Place or the New Utopia?

Society depends on the internet for nearly everything but rarely do we step back and recognize its endless intricacies and unsettling omnipotence. From the brilliant mind of Werner Herzog comes a playful yet chilling examination of our rapidly connecting lives. Herzog captures interviews with a treasure trove of strange and beguiling individuals. The internet may be as Herzog states “one of the biggest revolutions we as humans are experiencing.” but he tempers the enthusiasm with tragic stories from victims of online harassment and internet addiction.

Plays with

“The Talk” True Stories about the Birds and the Bees / Dir. Alain Delannoy, 2016, Canada, 8:50 min / Using a mix of hand drawn images, photographs, computer generated images as well as stop frame animated toys and props, the memories of several individuals have been caringly recreated in order to best present the awkwardness of one of life’s strangest occurrences.

Presented in partnership with the Bell Media Best of Hot Docs
