European Union SHORT FILM FESTIVAL: Short Films for Kids

The European Union Delegation to Canada, the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and the diplomatic missions of EU Member States, in collaboration with the Winnipeg Cinematheque are pleased to present the first edition in Winnipeg of the European Union Short Film Festival.

These first six films are suitable for children of all ages.

THE MOLE AS A PAINTER, Czech Republic, 1972, 10 minutes, directed by Zdenek Miler
It’s amazing what a little paint will do to scare away the bad guys!

BERRY & DOLLY: THE RAINBOW, Hungary 2017, 5 minutes, directed by Kedd Animation Studio
Berry gets a very special birthday gift from Dolly and friends.

THE RED HERRING,  Finland 2017, 6 minutes, directed by Levy Lemmetty
Penguins love fish, but sometimes they’re hard to catch.

THE COCKROACH AND THE SEA, Belgium 2016, 6 minutes, directed by: Anton Setola
They say the cockroach can survive in any environment. It just might be true.

THE WARSAW MERMAID, 2016, 13 minutes
A magical animated tale of how a mermaid helped a small fishing village grow into big city Warsaw.

BERRY & DOLLY: THE KITE, Hungary 2017, 5 minutes, directed by Antonin Krizsanics and Géza M. Tóth
When Berry, Dolly, and their pals decide to fly a kite, the kite is soon flying them.

SINGING HUGO AND HIS INCREDIBLE ADVENTURES,  Latvia 2017, 9 minutes, directed by Reinis Kalnaellis
Hugo the chicken loves to sing, but sometimes that gets him in trouble…

Ana finds out that sometimes the past and the present can overlap in surprising ways.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.
