This is a workshop led by Toronto filmmaker, Grace Glowicki, about directing a film in which you also perform as an actor. Grace will use her directorial debut feature, TITO, as a case study to share with you what she’s learned. Step by step, she will take you through how the film came to be, from original idea to distribution, and focus on the lessons she learned that might help you when directing yourself in a film. Grace will answer any questions you may have, as well as facilitate a group discussion about the topic. This course is ideal for anyone who has, or is curious about, wearing both hats!
Grace Glowicki is a Canadian filmmaker & actor with a focus on expressionistic dramatic comedies. In 2016, Grace won a Sundance Special Jury Award for her role in HER FRIEND ADAM, and was later named a 2016 TIFF Rising Star. TITO, her feature-length directorial debut in which she also performs, premiered at SXSW in 2019 where it won the Adam Yauch Hornblower Award. The film was called “an instant classic of acting” by The New Yorker. Grace is currently in pre-production for her next directorial project in which she will also perform.
