Crock of Gold is the definitive feature documentary on Irish musical legend Shane MacGowan, former lead singer of the Pogues and Ireland’s most beloved punk poet. Julien Temple’s film ‘Crock of Gold’ details Shane’s explosive existence, from his salad days, growing up in Ireland, to time spent on the mean streets of London and embracing the punk scene. To forming the Pogues and the conquering the known universe, we discover MacGowan’s passions, his humor & deep knowledge of music, history, spirituality & popular culture. Packed with great storytelling and interviews with colleagues and friends including his father and sister as well as great TV clips, archival material, family photos, and animation from various directors (most impressively Ralph J. Steadman). At the heart of the film is great personal reminiscences from the wildly irreverent MacGowan who though now a bit of a train wreck from years of heavy drinking and drugs still exudes an irreverent, caustic sense of humour.
