A corporate firm Globotech takes over a small toy company and creates a new line of GI Joe-like action figures – the Commando Elites and their enemy the Gorgonites. But by accident microchips from the defense department are installed in the toys and suddenly they spring to life. When teenager Alan Abernathy buys one for his family’s toy store he soon confronts a war breaking loose between the two rival camps. Amazing special effects and puppet animatronics by tech whiz Stan Winston (Aliens, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park) An all-star cast with Tommy Lee Jones, Phil Hartman, Kirsten Dunst and Dick Miller. The Commandos’ voices are supplied by members of the original ”Dirty Dozen” cast – Clint Walker, Ernest Borgnine, Jim Brown, George Kennedy) while the voices of the Gorgonites are supplied by Spinal Tap (Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer) Sarah Michelle Gellar and Christina Ricci voice the the Barbie-like Gwendy dolls.

A smart satirical action-comedy about talking action toys. The film has a wonderful underlying acerbic humor and a sense of wicked intelligence, as it pretends to be a children’s picture while it attacks the entire American culture for being a war-mongering one.
