Aurora Gorealis: Watching Night of the Living Dead

Fri, Oct 25 / 9 pm
Directed by Dave Dyment
2018, Canada, 96 min

Reception at PLATFORM Gallery to follow screening.

The 1968 George Romero classic is reanimated using footage of characters from other films and television series watching the movie on TV, online, at the cinema, or the drive-in. These collected scenes are arranged sequentially along a bed track of the original film. The countless clips testify to the ongoing influence of the original, and to the fact that copyright laws may have robbed Romero of royalties, but also ensured his legacy.

Plays with Night of the Living Livers / Directed by Mike Maryniuk, 2007, Canada, 5 min / After years of forced alcohol abuse, Reggie’s Liver seeks revenge on Reggie’s pal Duane who won’t stop forcing him to join him on his binges.

Presented in partnership with PLATFORM Centre for Photographic & Digital Arts and WNDX Festival of Moving Image.
