Architecture+Design Film Festival: The Proposal

Available to rent Sept 16-20
Directed by Jill Magid
2018, USA, 86 min

This title is available to rent via Cinematheque at Home. This is not only an opportunity for our patrons to see new cinema, but is an important way that they can continue to support independent film during this pandemic with 50% of all sales supporting our theatre.

Performance artist Jill Magid is preparing a public exhibition inspired by the “emotional architecture” of Luis Barragán, the world renowned Mexican architect, engineer and builder of colorful and luminous temple-like homes. To gain access to Barragán’s professional archives, she orchestrates a surreal scheme of cunning intrigue, as creative and defiant as it is profoundly ironic.

Sponsored by Monteyne Architecture Works.

Now in its ninth year, the Architecture + Design Film Festival (A+DFF) presents critically acclaimed films focusing on the importance of architecture and design in everyday life. The films cover a range of design-oriented topics from architecture and urban design to graphics and product design. A+DFF is the only festival in Canada devoted solely to architecture and design. This festival is generously supported by The Manitoba Association of Architects, The Winnipeg Foundation, the Faculty of Architecture Endowment Fund (University of Manitoba), and presented in partnership with Urban Idea and the WFG Cinematheque.
