Afro Prairie Film Festival: Charles Burnett Master Class

Sun, Feb 25 / 2 pm

Join us for an in-depth discussion with one of the pre-eminent Black voices in filmmaking, Charles Burnett. Charles will be in conversation, discussing his career as a Black filmmaker, from his start in the 60s and 70s directing rough and honest portrayals of Black lives not typically seen on screen during the height of the Blaxploitation film movement, through his work with major Black actors such as Halle Berry, Ice Cube, Danny Glover, and James Earl Jones in the 90s, Charles has continually displayed an incredible knack for depicting the complexities of the African American experience in film, and has inspired generations of Black artists throughout his 40 years as a filmmaker.

Presented in Partnership with the Afro Prairie Film Festival & Black Space Winnipeg.
