Our Production Office – Room 304 – is open to the general public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. We are closed on Wednesdays.
Our Management, Cinematheque and Distribution office – located in Room 018, 100 Arthur Street – is generally open Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM however our staff are often away at meetings or screenings and, for this reason, it is best to contact them individually regarding their availability.
Our Cinematheque theatre is open Tuesday to Sunday. Advanced tickets can be purchased in person in Room 018, however please note that occasionally, staff may be off-site in meetings. We recommend purchasing advanced tickets online.

Cinematheque
The Winnipeg Cinematheque is the Winnipeg Film Group’s professional presentation department. Through this wing, we promote the art and develop audiences, providing local and Canadian filmmakers opportunities to have their works screened and critically discussed alongside our world cinema series. Our Cinematheque additionally produces the Gimme Some Truth documentary festival.

Jaimz is responsible for the artistic and business development of the Cinematheque, as well as managing its staff. Additionally, Jaimz oversees the expansion and development of special programming streams for the Cinematheque and is the Producer for the Gimme Some Truth Documentary Festival.

Dave curates, programs and coordinates our in-house Cinematheque programming. David manages the quality of the Cinematheque experience, including the daily operation, projection, venue rentals, sponsorships and ad sales. Non-profit or community organizations that wish to access our Cinematheque at a reduced cost versus our posted rental rates (as a Winnipeg Film Group sponsorship) should query with David.
Eric Peterson | Cinematheque | Head Projectionist

Eric manages all technical aspects of the Cinematheque’s operations, including film format testing and conversion, and maintenance of projection equipment. He also produces original content for the Cinematheque, such as: in-house trailers and ad slides, and helps to create Cinematheque’s original commercials, as well as acting as Head Projectionist. Eric should be contacted with any questions regarding the technical specs and capabilities of the Cinematheque.

Distribution
Our Distribution Department supports the dissemination of the work of Canadian filmmakers around the world, with a special focus on the works of Manitoba and prairie-region filmmakers. The Distribution Department focuses its efforts on paying markets and exceptional audience opportunities that artists might otherwise not be able to access by themselves. This department additionally supports research by professional curators, programmers and academics.

As the head of the Distribution Department Monica oversees the high-level financial and artistic direction of the Department. She handles a variety of special projects and initiatives involving the work in our collection including the Archive / Counter Archive Case Study for the WFG. She is also a co-founder and serves on the Executive of VUCAVU.

The Distribution Coordinator is focused on the vitality, growth and conservation of the Winnipeg Film Group’s catalogue of film, video and media art. They are responsible for acquiring and distributing the catalogue, as well as preserving the rich body of work in the collection. Along with the Distribution Director, the Distribution Coordinator seeks to ignite screening opportunities, sales and special projects. Currently, the Winnipeg Film Group is involved in a multi-year case study as part of Archive/Counter-Archive, a special project in conjunction with York University. The Distribution Coordinator is the person to reach out to if you are interested in having your work in the WFG catalogue or inquiring about film rentals, licensing or presentation.

Production
Our Production Department provides a multitude of professional services to artists and the community at large, in professional development, artist resource provision and community programming. These services are offered to support the development of Manitoba filmmakers actively creating independent works as directors or artist/creators. This department additionally engages in strategic interventions through its programming choices to ensure demographic equity in the local filmmaking community, and to this end pays special attention to supporting Indigenous filmmakers in particular.

Dylan is responsible for equipment and facility care within our Production Department. Dylan maintains our studio facility (also known as the Black Lodge) as well as all the Production Department’s equipment and technical facilities. He also provides general support to other areas of the Production Department.
