Board of Directors
The WFG’s Board of Directors is a governance board. It maintains the WFG’s Bylaws and ensures that sufficient infrastructure is available to support the mandate of the organization, including directly supporting private-sector fundraising.
At each AGM, three directors are elected to the Board by qualified general members, for three year terms. As the Winnipeg Film Group is an artist-run organization, our Board must be principally comprised of practicing filmmakers and video artists.
Only Winnipeg Film Group general members are eligible to run for director positions up for election at the AGM. Only Winnipeg Film Group general members who have been members for at least 60 days and who are not in payment arrears with the WFG, are eligible to vote at the AGM.
In addition to the total nine elected director positions, there are three director positions appointed directly by the Board of Directors. All vacancies are also filled by via appointment by the Board of Directors.
All directors can remain on the Board for up to two consecutive terms, or six consecutive years. Directors must step off the Board for a minimum of one year before being eligible to become a Board director again.
The only exception is the immediate Past President, who may remain on the Board as a full voting member for one additional consecutive year. The immediate Past President is an unelected position.
