WRITERS' SERIES: WRITING THE SHORT SCREENPLAY

Explore story structure in relation to the short film screenplay. In class participants will examine the elements that make a successful short film. They will also explore film festival expectations for short films. This class is suitable for any level. For the second class, students will write a new short screenplay, or revise an existing short screenplay.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Danishka Esterhazy is a graduate of the Director's Lab program at the Canadian Film Centre – the renowned film school founded by Norman Jewison. She has written and directed several short films including the National Screen Institute Drama Prize winner The Snow Queen. She was a participant in the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival Talent Lab and she was the 2008 winner of the Kodak New Vision award sponsored by Women in Film and Television. Danishka’s first feature film, Black Field, premiered October 2009 at the Vancouver International Film Festival and was released in theatres across Canada in summer 2010. www.danishkaesterhazy.com
