MANITOBA EMERGING FILMMAKER AWARD

Fund Overview

This high-profile award is allocated to one emerging filmmaker yearly to support an independent film production.

The award provides $10,000 in cash, $5,000 in services from PS Prairies and $2,500 in services from the Winnipeg Film Group. In addition, this award includes a one-year Full User Membership with the Winnipeg Film Group. The completed film is premiered at the Gimli Film Festival the year following the award (providing approximately 15 months to complete the project).

Emerging film and video makers are eligible to apply for this award.

Emerging filmmakers, for the purposes of this funding award, have been working as directors for three to five years, have completed at least one and not more than four short independent, non-student films or videos as director. They will additionally have a history of screenings within a professional context, such as having been selected for film festivals, broadcast or by other recognized presentation organizations. 

Manitoba Emerging Filmmaker Award receipients are not eligible to apply to the Film Group's other production funding programs for their MEFA production. If additional funding is required to complete your budget, it must be from non-Winnipeg Film Group sources.

Applicants must be residents of Manitoba. Applicants must be the creator / director of the project, with full artistic control. Writers and / or Producers are not eligible to apply.
