EXPERIMENTAL SERIES: INNOVATIVE FILM PERFORMANCE

In this one day workshop, participants will spend the afternoon with interdisciplinary artist, Amanda Dawn Christie playing with optical “toys” she uses for her own live film performances on the road. A hands-on day of creativity and exploration using film loops, projectors, mirrors, lenses, prisms and rotating platforms, this workshop promises to be educational and fun at the same time. Participants are invited to bring their own footage or select from footage provided by the instructor. Limited to 10 participants.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Amanda Dawn Christie is a practicing interdisciplinary artist working in film, contemporary dance, photography, and electroacoustic sound design.  For the past ten years Amanda has been actively serving on various boards of artist run centres, teaching workshops, publishing articles, and serving on juries across Canada.   She completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at Simon Fraser University School for the Contemporary Arts in Vancouver, before moving to Amsterdam. After living in the Netherlands for a year, she has recently moved back to Canada where she currently works as a production supervisor at the Faucet Media Arts Centre & Struts Gallery.
