EXPERIMENTAL SERIES
The Winnipeg Film Group is renowned for its ongoing tradition of supporting among the most innovative filmmakers working in Canada.
Yearly, we offer some truly amazing programs that support experimentation in FILM (the medium), including hands-on instruction on a variety of hand-crafted techniques while allowing participants to make a short, independent work.
Works created directly through or using the techniques taught in the experimental programs have screened at film festivals and artist-run cinemas across Canada and around the world. These programs support approaches that are ultra-low budget and realitically achievable with minimal cash resources.
Please read our registration policy prior to registering for any workshop. To register for a workshop, please contact our Training Coordinator at 925-3450 or training@winnipegfilmgroup.com.
OPTICAL PRINTING
The Optical Printer is the original movie magic machine and the effects it is capable of creating simply cannot be duplicated using other technologies. Matting, bi-packing and image degradation are always mesmerizing when achieved using the optical printer, which by nature facilitates hand-crafted and process-based approaches to work. This Optical Printer workshop session is being facilitated with the support of the WNDX festival.
