The Reel Youth Film Festival empowers youth in the community to express their creativity, entertain audiences, and share their visions for a more just and sustainable world. The Festival is a community engagement tool and a celebration of youth culture.

Family Stones (Reel Youth, Nepal, 22 min) A touching and uplifting film about five Nepali children who have been rescued from the adult prison system, two Maoist child soldiers, and the amazing place they call home.

Freedom (Peace It Together, Vancouver, BC, 2.5 min) Hand-drawn paintings and meticulously rendered rotoscope images blend to create a poetic meditation on individual freedom and hope.

Detention (ViewFinders, Halifax, NS, 4.5 min) A kid’s first visit to detention breathes new life into an otherwise dull day and shows the creative ability of a group of young people to entertain themselves.

Static Fiction (Michael Bradley, Delta, BC, 4 min) Music creates a gateway into the realm of imagination.

Crossover (Big Picture Alliance, Philadelphia, PA, 5.5 min) I don't want to lose control and be trapped in the water. That's why I cross over the bridge. A hard hitting, beat bouncing rap video.

Evolve (North Surrey Secondary School, BC, 1 min) The crocodile hunter meets Work Safe BC.

Mirror (Greenfield, MN, 5 min) Mirror on the Wall. A mysterious mirror reflects the truth to those who look in it.

In My Shoes (Urban Arts Partnership, New York, NY, 5 min) Raises awareness of NYC youth homelessness by debunking stereotypes and exposing homeless youth living under the radar.

Vendetta (Rutland Senior Secondary School, 10 min) When a hardened criminal escapes only one man can bring closure to the situation.

Killers of the Earth (Jeffrey Bruno, Metairie, LA, 1.5 min) Two cheerful aliens demolish planets for a living. When their next assignment is the Earth, they discover something interesting…

Transatlantique (Westlake School, Hollywood, CA, 8 min) Separated by language and divorced parents, a brother and sister's strained relationship is challenged during an afternoon together.

Sexmas (Ruttland Senior Secondary School, 4 min) A staff Christmas party becomes risqué as one secretary decides to spice things up.

Sparks in the Night (Ben Kadie, Bellevue, WA, 3 min) Set in a black, white and red 1940's, Sparks in the Night humorously follows detective Leon Sparks as he closes in on notorious lawbreaker, the Jerry Walker and the Speeder Brothers.

Waiting for Change (Kevin Gabel, Winnipeg, MB, 5 min) Steve's boring life is rudely interrupted one day, and by the end he'll realize how much in his life has to change.
