PANEL DISCUSSION: CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE FAR NORTH

Thu Feb 18, 2010 at 7:00 PM

Having just returned from the Arctic, Winnipeg filmmaker and scientist Ian Mauro (Seeds of Change) will discuss his new documentary work in progress which he is co-creating with Zacharias Kunuk (Atanarjuat, The Journals of Knud Rasmussen).

Mauro and Kunuk are documenting centuries of Inuit knowledge, passed down from elders and hunters, about climate change and its impacts on the environment and local communities. The filmmakers have spent the past five months in Igloolik editing this footage into the world's first feature-length Inuktitut language film on Inuit knowledge and climate change.

The final, completed film Qapirangajuk: To Spear Strangely will be released some time in 2010.
