Acclaimed independent director Noam Baumbach (The Squid and The Whale) has created his finest work yet, about two souls trying to find a place in the world. Florence is an aspiring singer struggling to find her place in the world. She works as a personal assistant to the Greenberg family, beginning and ending each day tending to other people’s needs. When the family takes an extended trip abroad, Florence checks up on the family’s dog Mahler and Roger, who has come to L.A. to house sit. Single and fortyish, Roger is intelligent, witty, and sharp-tongued – and, like Florence, something of a lost soul; he is at a crossroads in his life. Roger purses an affair with her but it becomes clear it will never really work.
