CALL FOR CURATORIAL SUBMISSIONS

ANNUAL CALL FOR CURATORIAL SUBMISSIONS
DEADLINE: DECEMBER 1st, 2008 before 5:00pm

The Winnipeg Film Group’s Cinematheque is accepting proposals to be considered for our 2009 -2010 programming year, running July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010. The Winnipeg Film Group pays artist and curator fees in accordance with the recognized rate schedules (IMAA, CARFAC etc).

Please review submission guidelines before submitting your proposal. We accept programs that are independent / alternative in nature, with a significant priority placed on Canadian works. Programs that incorporate non-Canadian works can be considered, so long as there is a significant proportion of Canadian works included.

The Winnipeg Film Group’s Cinematheque is a 118-seat cinema with a traditional cinema floor plan. However, we encourage proposals from individuals, groups and collectives in all media arts, especially multimedia or interactive proposals and other forms of media that may expand on our current programming model.

We also have a studio space that can facilitate short-term expanded cinema presentations. In all instances, we would prioritize access to this space for works that contain film (the medium) in some aspect.

The Winnipeg Film Group is also dedicated to cultural diversity in its programming and to this end encourages applications from contemporary artists and curators identifying as Aboriginal (status, non-status, Inuit and Metis), GLBTT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, two-spirited and transgendered), and all other culturally diverse communities.

Programming submissions are solicited through a general annual national call with an annual deadline of Dec. 1st. The submissions will be reviewed by the Winnipeg Film Group within the context of The Winnipeg Film Group’s mandate and goals, and a response will be provided within one to two months.

Please contact Kier-la Janisse, Special Project Programmer, with a 200-word (max) synopsis of your idea prior to full submission, as we are prioritizing programs that are not significantly similar to those we have recently programmed or will present within our current programming year.

Submission Deadline: DECEMBER 1st, 2008 before 5pm.
