ABOUT THE PROJECT

4 Filmmakers, 4 Days, $4000, For Broadcast  

The 4 x 4 Documentary Project is an opportunity for 4 emerging documentary filmmakers to create a short documentary, directly linked to “Gimme Some Truth: The Winnipeg Documentary Project”. Several workshops, screenings and several directors in attendance, should provide ample opportunity for an interesting short film. The finished product will be screened on MTS TV Winnipeg On Demand.

It is not imperative that the filmmaker has made a documentary in the past, but should display an interest in the medium.

The award funding and timeframe is ideal to support a film or video that is approximately 5 minutes in length.

How to apply:

Simply submit an expression of interest outlining your filmmaking process and how you plan on finding the story. If you have a strong idea of the film you want to make, than do describe it. Also include a copy of your artistic resume, the completed application form and 1 piece of support material.

Ineligible Projects:

  • Projects where the applicant is less than 18 years of age.
  • The applicant is not a Winnipeg Film Group or Doc Winnipeg member in good standing
  • Must have been a resident of Manitoba for 6 months prior to the deadline.

Selection Process:

  • Applications will be assessed by a jury of Manitoban Documentary Filmmakers.
  • The successful applicant should display the ability to carry out the project and a history of    projects with a high degree of artistic merit.         
  • Successful applicants will have to sign a grant acknowledgement agreement to access the fund.

Project Timeline:

  • November 3rd –Applicants selected
  • November 4th/ 5th – Meeting with Mentor (Provided by DOC)
  • November 6-9th – Documentary Conference (shoot)
  • January 31st – Completed Projects Submitted (Beta Sp)
